3 minutes ago - ary officials from traveling to the war-torn country and discouraging any congressional visits, according to a Friday memo first reported reported by Punchbowl News. The travel restrictions issued by the Department of Defense (DoD) do not apply to President Joe Biden, members of the President’s Cabinet, Joint Chiefs of Staff CQ Brown, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Christopher Grady, or the service secretaries or chiefs. “I hereby restrict visits by DoD senior leaders to Israel, effective immediately and until further notice,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin wrote in the memo. In mid-October, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, DY, led a bipartisan congressional delegation to Israel, where they were forced to seek shelter from missiles. Since then, violence has escalated with the Israeli ground invasion of Gaza.
